It was on a beautiful spring day that the first settlers set their roots on the grounds that would soon be known as Calmar, Iowa. Little did they know that their seeds would blossom into the wonderful community which it has become.

AS OF TODAY, MAY 11, 2012 WE HAVE APPROXIMATELY 63 FLOWER BASKETS HANGING, THE FLAGS ARE FLYING AND THERE ARE ABOUT 42 BARRELS OF PLANTS LOCATED THROUGHOUT TOWN. WE ALSO PLANTED SEVERAL PLANTER BENCHES AND PUT PLANTS IN VARIOUS POTS THE BUSINESSES ALREADY HAD IN PLACE. THANKS TO SAM SABELKA, BEV LUTKENHAUS, THE CALMAR FIRE DEPARTMENT, WAYNE WIEST AND THE CITY EMPLOYEES FOR THEIR HUGE EFFORTS TO MAKE OUR TOWN BEAUTIFUL!

THE 2011 WATER QUALITY REPORT IS NOW AVAILABLE. IT WILL BE POSTED ON THE CITY WEB SITE FOR A YEAR UNTIL THIS TIME NEXT YEAR. THE REPORT WILL BE UNDER INFORMATION. THE REPORT WILL BE PUBLISHED IN THE LOCAL NEWSPAPER AND POSTED AT THE CLERK'S OFFICE AND THE CALMAR LIBRARY. COPIES ARE AVAILABLE AT THE CLERK'S OFFICE

The next regularly scheduled council meeting will be Monday, June 4, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. Meetings are held at the Calmar Fire station.
If you have something to discuss with the council and are NOT on the posted agenda you can be heard from 6:45 to 7:00 P.M. prior to the meeting.
We encourage attendance at the Calmar City Council meetings, everyone is encouraged and welcome to attend.

The Calmar Fireman's Dance will be held this year in Calmar on June 23, 2012 in conjunction with Calmar Trail Days. It will be held in the parking lot by Whiskey Grove from 8-12 with music by the El Caminos.

CALMAR 5K FUN RUN REGISTRATION FORM
The Calmar Commercial Club is again going to have Trail days on June 23, 2012 They are planning a 5k run/walk with registration from 6:00 P.M. untiil race time at 7:00 P.M. at the Calmar Depot on the Friday night of June 22, 2012. The registration fee is $20 which includes a t-shirt, brat, beverage of choice and admission to the band at the city parking lot by Whiskey Grove. This pamphlet will be made available at various locations and displayed for local residents and visitors alike
