It was on a beautiful spring day that the first settlers set their roots on the grounds that would soon be known as Calmar, Iowa. Little did they know that their seeds would blossom into the wonderful community which it has become.

The Winneshiek County Historical Society will meet at the Calmar Depot on April 12, 2008 at 10:30 A.M.

The business meeting will begin at 10:30 A.M. with a Noon luncheon to follow. After lunch there will be a program on the early railroad in Calmar.

The next regularly scheduled council meeting will be on Monday, April 7, 2008 at 7:00 P.M. at the Calmar Fire Station.

If you have an agenda item call the clerk's office
before Noon on Friday to get it added to the posted agenda.

Calmar Farmers Day is 100 years old this year.
The Calmar Commercial Club has decided to have
100 days of Farmers Day in 2008
The kick off will be on Friday evening, May 30th., with the Calmar area wide picnic. They will be wrapping up the anniversary 100 days later on September 6th. The closing celebration will be in conjunction with NICC Fall Fest which is September 4th. The parade will be on Saturday, September 6th.
There will be something scheduled about every other weekend all summer.
