Calmar Area Swim Team
The Calmar Area Swim Team was formed in 1987 under the direction of Larry Geiselhart with his assistant Chris Nelson. In 1986 the team had 20 plus swimmers and by the 1987 season had grown to 52 swimmers.
As the sport and the competition grew, so did the number of swimmers. By 1990 the team topped out with 72 swimmers. In that year the team also won the conference title. The conference consisted of nine teams from Waukon, Decorah, West Union, Strawberry Point, Elkader, Postville, Monona and Oelwein.
Over the next few years, Oelwein left the conference, Monona and Postville combined as did Elkader and Strawberry Point. Manchester joined the roster followed soon by Cresco.
