Sewer Charges
The State of Iowa requires the City to collect sales tax on commercial sewer charges. This tax is 7 percent of the sewer charge. This 7 percent is the normal 5 percent tax, a 1 percent local option and a 1 percent school tax.

99:02 RENTAL RATE: Each dwelling unit, apartment unit, mobile home, house, business, and industry shall be considered as one sewer account and shall pay a base rate of $25.00 per month for sanitary sewer service.

The Northeast Iowa Community College (NICC) shall pay a base rate of $500.00 (20 units) per month for sanitary sewer service.

The South Winneshiek Community School shall pay a base rate of $ 175.00 (7 units) per month for sanitary sewer service.

1. Every customer or account shall also pay a sanitary sewer usage fee of $6.50 per month for each one thousand (1,000) gallons of wastewater treated by the City.

In no case shall the minimum service charge be less than $25.00 per month, which is necessary to retire the indebtedness, operating and maintenance, and reserve necessary for maintaining the sanitary sewer facility.
Water & Sewer Service
The clerk's office mails out all water/sewer bills usually between the 15th & 20th of the month. The bills are due by the 5th of the next month. Any account with payments not made by the 6th. of the month will have a 15 percent late fee added to their next bill. Should you receive a disconnect notice and not pay by the date on the notice and we have to post your door there is a $10.00 service fee. Should you be disconnected due to non pay of utility service billing a $25.00 reconnection fee will be charged to have service resumed. There is a drop box provided under the depot canopy at the clerk's office at 201 N. Maryville Street in Calmar for utility payments and correspondence.

92:02 RATES AND SERVICE. Water service shall be furnished at the following monthly rates within the City Limits of Calmar, Iowa: (Code of Iowa Sec. 384.84)
1. First 1000 gallons used per month @ $11.00 (Minimum Bill) with 3/4" meter or smaller
First 1000 gallons used per month @ $18.00 (Minimum Bill) with 1" meter
First 1000 gallons used per month @ $ 24.00 (Minimum Bill) with 1 1/4" meter
First 1000 gallons used per month @ $30.00 (Minimum Bill) with 1 1/2" meter
First 1000 gallons used per month @ $36.00 (Minimum Bill) with 2" meter
First 1000 gallons used per month @ $42.00(Minimum Bill) with 3" meter
First 1000 gallons used per month @ $48.00(Minimum Bill) with 4" meter

2. Next 29,000 gallons used per month @ $2.00 per thousand gallons

3. Excess gallons used per month @ $1.50 per thousand gallons

92:03 RATES OUTSIDE THE CITY LIMITS. Water service shall be furnished at the following monthly rates outside the City Limits of Calmar, Iowa: (Code of Iowa Sec. 384:84)
1. First 1000 gallons used per month @ $14.00 (Minimum Bill) with 3/4" meter or smaller
First 1000 gallons used per month @ $18.00 (Minimum Bill) with 1" meter
First 1000 gallons used per month @ $24.00 (Minimum Bill) with 1 1/4" meter
First 1000 gallons used per month @ $30.00 (Minimum Bill) with 1 1/2" meter
First 1000 gallons used per month @ $36.00 (Minimum Bill) with 2" meter
First 1000 gallons used per month @ $42.00 (Minimum Bill) with a 3" meter
First 1000 gallons used per month @ $48.00 (Minimum Bill) with a 4" meter

2. Next 29,000 gallons used per month @ $3.00 per thousand gallons

3. Excess gallons used per month @ $1.50 per thousand gallon
